|| on coffee and Jesus ||
>> i need coffee every day. i wake up and get coffee.
i need Jesus every day. starting my day with Jesus and in the Word is the way i want to live. i want to seek him first thing in the morning. like wake up and fill my mind with truth before i face my day.
>> one cup of coffee today is not going to hold me through tomorrow. sometimes i even need two cups.
this dependance on coffee shows me that if i am dependent on Jesus, i will not just expect time with him to "hold me over"... its something that i should look forward to every day, and its not just a once a day thing, its a true dependence on him. dependence where i keep going back to him throughout the day.
>> coffee wakes me up and gives me energy.
im reading John now, and Jesus talks over and over about living water. and life. we are not meant to exist... but to LIVE.
>> coffee is good to just sit and drink.
Jesus is wonderful. i can just sit and drink in his presence. and abide in him. its peaceful. and i can meditate on his word and his attributes...
>> coffee makes rainy days better.
sometimes life is just rainy. but Jesus is so sweet during those times. and reminds me that all things work together for good...and HIS LOVE NEVER FAILS!
>> coffee brings friends together.
i have met some of the most amazing people because of Jesus. :) my church. my friends from school. Jesus has brought us together...and given us beautiful, flavorful and exciting times.
>> coffee smells good.
the smell of coffee brewing is so peaceful, happy and yet almost invigorating. 2 cor 2 talks about the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Jesus... somehow knowing Jesus just smells good. :)
>> coffee is meant to be shared.
Jesus came to earth and took the full wrath of God on himself so that we could have eternal life. THIS has to be shared with everyone!! i need to think of people to share this with in my life right now.
>> folgers coffee in a pot is good. dunkin donuts coffee in the french press is AMAZING.
i think of this more as the time spent with Jesus. if i run through my quiet time, just read something real fast, its good. but percolating in the word and brewing prayer and steeping in JESUS - THAT is amazing!
>> black coffee is good. but a little cream and sugar add an extra invited touch.
black coffee is like straight up WORD. its truth and wonderful. and it tells you about Jesus and all... but the cream and sugar are like the singing and the praying. they just add so much to time spent with Jesus. and really that interaction that is needed for a true relationship with the God of the universe.
>> coffee beans come from all over the world.
there are believers in ever corner of the world... all worshipping Jesus. all flavors and styles and colors.
>> coffee cant be drank out of just any the mug.
there are some mugs that just take the heat out of my coffee... but others keep the heat in and my coffee is warm forever. [it seems...]
i guess this is like me. sometimes i spend the time with Jesus and its HOT when i receive this truth... but i just let the heat out. :( and other times, i keep the heat for a while... its like that parable Jesus told about the seeds being sown and stuff. like, whats the condition of my heart to hear what he has to tell me.
>> what about iced coffee?
sometimes if the coffee has been in the pot a while, ill put ice in it. its still good, its just not hot.
the truth Jesus gives me is still good days later... months later. like all those verses that have spoken RIGHT to my heart... still alive and good. its like i read them again, throw some ice in [maybe thats like some praise for who Jesus is and what he has done], and its fresh again. :)

i love this SO MUCH!!!!
